History of Myitkyina University

             Myitkyina University was established on July 15, 1963, under the name Myitkyina Education College. On May 25, 1977, it was upgraded to Myitkyina Regional College. On April 1, 1980, it was transformed into Myitkyina College. On February 12, 1986, it was further upgraded to Myitkyina Degree College. On February 20, 1998, it was promoted to Myitkyina University. The campus of Myitkyina University covers an area of 220.788 acres and is located in Sitapru Ward, Myitkyina Township.

Mission

The aim is to develop a university that meets international standards through practical teaching and learning environments, as well as research conducted according to the relevant subjects.

Vision

Through continuously advancing and evolving higher education, it is expected that a society of humans will produce citizens who are consistently admired and valued as good members of the nation.

The purposes are 

(1) To create an effective teaching and learning system

(2) To create a good environment where anyone with the desire to learn can freely receive education without discrimination based on ethnicity, religion, or gender

(3) To promote collaboration with domestic and international organizations related to education

(4) To nurture students who are knowledgeable and skilled in their respective fields

(5) To encourage the emergence of research that benefits the local community

(6) To train and raise individuals who value and preserve the cultural heritage of their region

(7) To implement and facilitate connections with important domestic and international educational institutions for regional development
